In 2018, Walser Subaru found a home in South St. Paul. The new Subaru dealership will be located North of Interstate 494 off of Concord Street, taking the place of a Walser car reconditioning facility. The old facility will be demolished and replaced by a new 45,000 square foot facility which will offer both new and used Subarus. In addition, the new facility will feature 26 service bays to service Subaru owners in the local and surrounding communities. The site will start with 50 employees and is project to double their staff as business grows.
Taco Libre, best known for its authentic street tacos, has purchased the former South St. Paul VFW building in April of 2019. The site will be used as a event space, headquarters and commercial kitchen to service the Edina, West St. Paul, St. Paul and Oakdale locations.
Northern Battery is a premier battery wholesale user who acquired 1111 Concord St. South in 2018. Northern Battery offers batteries for automobiles, trucks, garden tractors, farm equipment, marine equipment, golf carts, motorcycles and ATV batteries. As part of Northern Battery’s new use at the site, they will be reutilizing space within the building and making changes to the northern side of the exterior to align the small retail space with the current parking. A new glass retail front will provide a welcoming front to customers where as the solid doors to the service entrance will help customers clearly identify the battery instillation area. Additionally, expanded parking will be provided onsite for customers.
